Capsule Geology

The Lower North zone on the of the Sphal and Kim property is underlain by Upper Triassic Stuhini Group rocks, which have been intruded by Late Triassic monzonitic intrusions, Eocene granitic dikes, sills and stocks of the Major Hart Plutonic Suite, Paleocene to Eocene granodioritic plutons and Miocene basaltic and rhyolitic dikes.

The Lower North Zone is located below tree line on the Novagold Kim claims, very close to the Trek claim boundary. Lower North Zone mineralization is described as malachite, chalcopyrite and pyrite mineralization with associated k-feldspar-epidote-magnetite alteration in intensely sheared mafic volcanics flanking a northeast trending monzonite dike. Mineralization is seen over an approximately 200 metres in a northeast direction along the edge of the creek bed, and grab samples from best mineralization seen within the zone assayed up to 4.27 per cent copper and 1.51 grams per tonne gold (Assessment Report 31505).

In 2014, Romios Gold collected rock samples from their Trek property, including Tundra (104G 400), East (104G 402), Tomb (104G 404), Lower North (104G 406) and zones. Seven samples were collected from the Lower North area in 2014 including 2 sediment samples, 3 grab samples and and 2 chip samples. Analysis of Lower North samples were not significant.

In 2018, Galore Creek Mining collected 5 chip samples from their Sphal and Kim property, four from the Tangle (104G 403) area and 1 from the Lower North area (104G 406). All samples plotted as sub alkaline or alkaline basalts. One sample (458401) from the Tangle area was observed to a have fine grained igneous texture. It was collected to compare to the intrusions of the Galore Creek suite and plotted as syeno-diorite with anomalous concentrations of gold and copper (0.155 grams per tonne gold and 0.197 per cent copper) (Assessment Report 38218).

Refer to North zone (104G 022) for details of the Trek and Sphal and Kim property work history. Though the Lower North is part of Novagold's Kim claims, some details are given. Romios Gold collected 110 samples covering heavily vegetated ground east of the Lower North Zone.
